BRUNSWICK JR ROADERS

WELCOME TO BJR FOOTBALL

BJR is a proud member of the Mountain Valley Youth Football League providing teams stiff competition and entertainment for parents who cheer for the success of their children as they participate. Youth groups for participation starts for Flag Football up to the Varsity level.

Residency Requirements

Residency goes by the Frederick County Public Schools Brunswick High School boundary map per MVYFL By-Laws. 
Participants must attend a Brunswick High feeder school such as Valley Elementary, Brunswick Elementary or Brunswick Middle School. 

You may be required to show proof of residency in way of a utility bill or school report card.

Coaches

All Head Coaches must get certified through USA Football under Heads Up Football. This season Heads Up will be taught by Coach Kevin Lynott with USA Football. All coaches at the contact Levels are required to be Heads Up certified to ensure the safety of all players.

AGE & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS

AGE (as of Sept 01):

Flag 4 & 5 and young 6 year olds (First time players)
Mini-Pony 6, 7 & 8
Pony 9 & 10
Junior Varsity 11 & 12
Varsity 13 & 14 (8th graders)

WEIGHT LIMITS

Flag – none
Mini-Pony – 85 (max 105)
Pony – 110 (max 130)
Junior Varsity – 125 (max 145)
Varsity – 13 year old 150, 14 year old 140 (no max)

PARENT RESPOSIBILITIES

Volunteer - Each parent must sign up for a one of the following; concession stand, gate or selling raffles during the games.

Practices & Games - participants should arrive on time to practices and games as scheduled. 
Please email your coach if you will be late or absent.

Officials - Please remain respectful to officials at all times. Any fan/referee confrontations will be investigated by BJR and could result in suspension or banishment from BJR or all MVAL events.

Issues - If you have any concerns about your child's experience with BJR please address the issue first with the teams head coach or if needed the VP of Football. Parents must remain respectful to other parents and players at all times. Please refrain from speaking about other players in any way that is not positive and encouraging. All parents and fans are required to abide by BJR's code of conduct (Link Below).

Smoking - There is NO smoking on the Sports Complex or School properties during practices or games.

EQUIPMENT

Provided by BJR
Uniform (Practice / Game Jersey, Practice / Game Pants), Shoulder Pads, Rib Protector, Helmet and knee pads

Provided by Parent
Mouth guard, Cleats, athletic cup, and players at the contact levels are required to provide their own girdle

DOCUMENTATION NEEDED

Copy of Birth Certificate
(can be uploaded online)

Mini-pony to Varsity Only 
(returning players that have been through weigh ins should not need to submit another copy)

All football players must weigh-in to be eligible for game participation per MVYFL.

Flag and Mini will split field during game time.
There are a few leagues that don't have Flag teams.
